Respite Care

Our Respite Programs offer planned short-term and time-limited opportunities for you to take a break. If you are a parent or guardian looking for a safe and positive opportunity where we care for a loved one for a specific time, our Respite Program may provide an opportunity for you.

What is provided

  • Assistance with toileting and feeding
  • Assistance with grooming and personal hygiene
  • Meal preparation, serving and cleanup
  • Supervision
  • Individual services
  • Group services (unit rate divided by consumers served)

Eligibility is based on

Indiana 191(c) Waivers or private pay.

Service is based on

Availability of individual service units on  the  recipient’s Notice  of Action. ASI will  monitor  the  availability  of units.   Private Pay is also available.

ASI will provide trained staff in accordance with current State & Federal regulation (460 IAC 6-14-4 Training)

Services not included

  • Respite care shall not be used as day/child care to allow the persons normally providing care to go to work or school.
  • Respite care shall not be used to provide service to a member while member is attending school.
  • Respite care may not be used to replace skilled nursing services that should be pro-vided under the Medicaid State Plan.
  • Respite care must not duplicate any other service being provided under the individual’s Plan of Care/Individual Service Plan (POC/ISP).
  • Services provided to an individual living in a licensed facility based setting.
  • The cost of registration fees or the cost of recreational activities.
  • When the service of Adult Foster Care or Children’s Foster Care is being furnished to the individual.
